2017 Dry Riesling

The 2017 Dry Riesling begins with floral notes, hints of tart green apples, and chalky minerality on the nose, followed by a fresh burst of key limes on the palate, and a crisp, refreshing finish.
Heart & Hands 2017 Dry Riesling is made from grapes grown by the following vineyards in New York’s Finger Lakes Viticultural Area: 42% Seneca East Vineyard, Seneca Lake; 31% Patrician Verona Vineyard, Cayuga Lake; 19% Nutt Road Vineyard, Seneca Lake; 4% Paul’s Legacy Vineyard, Skaneateles Lake
The 2017 vintage began with a mild winter, followed by a warm spring with normal precipitation, a seasonal budbreak and a June bloom. July and August were cooler than normal with significant rainfall. Fortunately in early September, the weather turned hot and dry which allowed the bountiful crop of Riesling grapes to fully ripen. The vintage produced Rieslings with vibrant acidity and harmonious balance. The Riesling was harvested over the course of ten days in mid October after each vineyard achieved optimal ripeness. Harvested fruit from each vineyard was separately basket pressed and chilled. Fermentation lasted an average of 89 days at 54° and some batches were stopped before dryness in order to retain varietal character and vibrancy. The wine was then bottled under the Vino-Lok glass closure to preserve the essence of the wine.
Enjoy with pan seared rainbow trout in a brown butter and caper sauce, roasted pork tenderloin with wild mushroom stuffing, or a warm goat cheese and caramelized onion tart.
