2011 Whole Cluster Pinot Noir

100% whole cluster fermented Pinot Noir crafted from grapes grown on Skaneateles, Seneca and Cayuga Lake.   Black cherries and tea leaves on the nose, blackberries and plums on the palate, rich tannins on the finish.

Aromas of black cherries, tea leaves, and tobacco tempt the senses, followed by plums, currants, and blackberries on the palate. Rich, firm tannins linger on the palate.
Crafted from grapes grown on the following vineyards in the Finger Lakes AVA: 38% Hobbit Hollow Vineyard - Skaneateles Lake, 38% Elaine’s Vineyard - Seneca Lake, 24% Patrician Verona Vineyard (Cayuga Lake). Clones: 114, 115, 667, 777.
The hand-picked grapes were received from each vineyard in small individual picking lugs. We hand sorted the grapes, selecting only clusters and berries which met our quality standards. The grapes were 100% whole cluster fermented to extract more tannins and flavors from the lignified stems. Subsequently, the grapes were basket pressed and gently transferred into barrels using gravity flow methods for 18 months of aging in Francois Freres French oak. 118 cases produced.
Enjoy with grilled sirloin over roasted red pepper and caper salad, portobello mushrooms filled with sage-infused bread stuffing, or herb roasted pork tenderloin over mixed greens.
