This riesling is a limited production wine crafted solely from grapes grown on Seneca Lake. Beautiful hints of anise and fresh apricots on the nose, followed by white peaches and tropical lychee on the palate, followed by a brisk, refreshing finish. Only 59 cases were produced. (92 Points, Robert Parker's Wine Advocate)
Aromas of anise, cardomom and fresh apricots on the nose, followed by ripe white peaches and tropical notes of lychee and passionfruit on the palate. The graceful finish is long and dry.
Seneca East Vineyard
The Seneca East Vineyard is located on the eastern shores of Seneca Lake on gently sloping hillsides adjacent to some of the deepest parts of the lake. The lake provides temperature moderation which protects the vines from cold winter weather as well as spring and autumn frost. The vineyard is managed by 4th-generation grower John Wagner.
Harvested fruit was whole cluster basket pressed and chilled. The wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks, and some batches were stopped before dryness in order to retain varietal character and vibrancy. The wine was then bottled under the Vino-Lok glass closure to preserve the essence of the wine.
Enjoy with pan-seared rainbow trout with browned butter caper sauce over rice pilaf, grilled swordfish with a jicama and mango salad, or a goat cheese and porcini mushroom tart.
