The Verve Chardonnay is Heart & Hands' bright, vivacious, austere expression of the Chardonnay grape. This vibrant wine was crafted via a 66% stainless steel fermentation with the balance barrel fermented in neutral French Oak.
Fresh green apples and lemon zest on the nose. A delicious burst of citrus delights the palate with fresh notes of lemons, limes, and oranges. The finish is
crisp, dry, and refreshing.
The 2020 vintage began with a mild winter and a spring on par with regional averages. After a frost scare in early May, the remainder of the growing season was simply flawless. Summer weather was sunny, hot, and dry with low precipitation. This ideal weather continued into Autumn, allowing us to pick the Chardonnay grapes at optimal ripeness and perfect balance.
We crafted our Verve Chardonnay with precision and care to coax out the best of this iconic grape. Handpicked grapes were pressed at cool temperatures and left to settle overnight. The primary fermentation was divided into stainless steel (66%) and French oak barrels (34%) lasting an average of 64 days, followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The barrel-fermented wine was aged on the lees for 10 months, producing a tantalizing mouthfeel. Delicate aromas and flavors mingle harmoniously in this vibrant, elegant wine.
