Aromas of key lime zest and chalky minerality on the nose, followed by fresh nectarines and green apples on the palate and a dry, brisk finish
The 2019 Dry Riesling begins with aromas of key lime zest and chalky minerality on the nose, followed by fresh nectarines and green apples on the palate. The finish is brisk, dry and invigorating.
Heart & Hands 2019 Dry Riesling is made from grapes grown by the following vineyards in New York’s Finger Lakes Viticultural Area:
Seneca East Vineyard Seneca Lake (East) 70%
Nutt Road Vineyard Seneca Lake (West) 30%
The 2019 vintage began with a mild winter followed by a cool spring, a May bud break and a late June bloom. Summer brought temperatures and precipitation on-par with regional 10-year averages. September was simply spectacular, offering up sunshine, heat, and dry weather and yielding ripeness and beautiful balance in the Riesling grapes.
The Riesling was harvested over the course of eight days in late October after each vineyard achieved optimal ripeness. Harvested fruit from each vineyard was separately basket pressed and chilled. Fermentation lasted an average of 77 days at 54° and some batches were stopped just before total dryness in order to retain varietal character and vibrancy. The wine was then bottled under the Vino-Lok glass closure to preserve the essence of the wine.
Enjoy with sesame-chicken salad with ginger-lime dressing, red snapper with citrus and fennel salad, roasted Thanksgiving turkey or a flatbread topped with asiago cheese, bosc pears, arugula and walnuts.
